The Biolarvicides Project
The origin of the Biolarvicides project emanates from the Bilateral Cooperation Agreement entered into between the United Republic of Tanzania and Republic of Cuba in Havana, Cuba on 9th August 1986. The main objective for the project is to establish a manufacturing plant at TAMCO Industrial Estate in Kibaha, Coast Region. Production capacity of the plant is 6 million litres of the biolarvicides per annum consisting of Bacillus thuringiensis SH 14 (Bti) and Bacillus sphariculs Strain 2362 (Bs). The project is being implemented in collaboration with M/s LABIOFAM of Cuba under the technical assistance from Cuba and is financed by NDC. The project is expected to be operational towards the end of 2012.
